  the plaintiff, candace conti's goal from the very beginning was to bring enough attention to this problem to incentivize watchtower to change its policy of secrecy.

  the award can be explained as it was decided: separate compensatory and punitive damages.

  the punitive award is established in law to punish wrongdoing - here, the conscious disregard for others - and deter that conduct in the future.

  A heart-wrenching comment from the JW survey...

  i've just received this comment from a country in the south china sea.

  i'd rather not be more specific than that.. the english is poor, but the message is heart-wrenching.

  any who question whether ordinary publishers wrestle with doubts need only read this message.

  When a person opens his eyes and sees light for the very first time, he instinctively flinches, squints, and slowly adjusts. So it is with all of us when we discovered the truth about "the truth." We all are at different stages: some of us are still flinching, some are squinting, some are slowly adjusting, and others are now wide-eyed and loving the light. Although, some unfortunately will close their eyes again, how can you keep your eyes closed after seeing something as awesome as the sun for the first time? You can't.

  This gentleman is in the earliest stages. He is seeing light for the first time, flinching, not understanding what it is that's hurting his eyes - but once you see it, you can never go back to the darkness.

  Cedars, take heart. Let him know he's not alone. Encourage him to think - to research it out. This is a self-discovery process. JWStruggle is a great place for this fellow to start his journey.

  The WTS is as flimsy as a house of cards. We're at a point in time when they've painted themselves into a tight corner. The weight of 130 years is starting to take its toll. More people than we realize are starting to see it too. It doesn't take much logic and research for any thinking human being to start to see through the problems. This guy is a thinker... he's trying to connect the dots. He will. And the brain can't undo what it discovers.

  I'm with Found Sheep. Nothing like waking up in the morning to the smells, sights, and sounds of nature. Love camping near a river and listening to it all night. Hot coffee or cocoa in the morning. Or sitting up late at night with good friends sipping on some whiskey telling stories around a nice fire.

  a friend and i talked on the phone recently, and he read matthew 24:36-38 from 3 different versions of the bible.

  the various renderings indicated that the citizenry were not aware of a coming judgment nor did they suspect anything, giving rise to the thought: what did noah preach (if anything)?

  likewise, were people in areas far removed from noah's alleged ark building apprised of his monumental feat?

  The Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures (published by WT) renders the Greek text of Matthew 24:39 literally as: "and not they knew until came the cataclysm." Just as you discovered, the Greek shows that the people of Noah's time simply did not know the deluge was coming until the day it arrived.

  However, in the same reference material WT translates the verse: "and they took no note until the flood came". The implies something different -that the people were warned but ignored the warning.

  It seems taking "no note" is a rendering that better agrees with the WT ministry. Imagine that!

  In reality, Jesus was simply teaching that people would not know the day and the hour until it arrived. He clearly stated this three verse earlier at Matthew 24:36. If only the WT learned that lesson.

  This is a great example of WT molding the scripture to match its belief, rather than allowing its belief to be molded by the scripture. Hmmmm.... what did Peter say about those "twisting" the Scriptures? (2 Peter 3:16)

  ThinkAboutIt... you're absolutely right. All churches are false prophets. The apostasy from the true faith would continue until Christ actually returns. No ifs, ands, or buts.

  Luke 21:8 shuts down every Witness when I explain it to them. They cannot overcome it. However, most shrink back and take another blue pill.

  Who has had this year's invitation personally delivered by elders?

  had two elders personally visit me today to deliver the rejection of christ memorial invitation.

  they were hanging around the front gate for a while because our dog (labrador) woudn't let them in.. my wife let them in the yard / house.

  when they asked if i'd be going i smiled and said "thank you for the invitation", then quickly changed the subject.

  Actually, no visits or calls at all since I asked them to explain why Jesus isn't my mediator. Hmmm....
